Dear Kathryn,
I see your family's reminders around the house. I was saddened when I found the growth chart from your children left behind on the kitchen bathroom door. I find myself painting this new house and thinking about the processes and procedures we went through to buy this house. Many times I was ready to walk away. Please let me share some things about my husband.
He is thorough. He is not going to spend any more than $100 without research. It is maddening at times. His thoroughness has resulted in many good decisions made for our family.
He will not do anything illegal. Even if it will make proceedings faster.
He is honest. He is aware that in these trying economic times many families are suffering. I am sure that living for a year or more with two mortgage payments has been difficult for your family. He is very conscientious of the costs of repairs. He is aware that the men doing the repairs have families to feed also. He is willing to pay a repair man an honest days' labor for doing a good job.
Now I suppose some would call it good business negotiations but my husband would never attempt to swindle another family. Our family would eat beans and oatmeal and go without before he would ever do anything of that nature.
Why do I talk so much of my husband? Because I just wanted to let you know what kind of man your husband will never be. And because my mother-in-law reads my blog I won't call him the name that truly belongs to him. But Slimeball is a good start.
